The Graduate Program

By historical reasons, Brazil had late creation of its higher education. The University of São Paulo was created only in 1934. Despite this, the Graduate Program in Physical Geography (PPGF, in Portuguese) of the University of São Paulo is one of the oldest in the country. The first PhD dissertations were defended in the 1940s and, in 1971, the Graduate Program adopted the current form following federal regulations. Since then, the PPGF keeps a tradition as the unique Graduate Program specifically for Physical Geography research.

Our alumni act professionally all over the country and also abroad, wether in the public sphere, private initiative, third sector or independently. The Program counts with 24 Professors, as permanent, collaborators or visiting, accredited to advisor in the levels of Master and Doctorate and to offer courses related to their research lines.
