October 19th Vitor Cano

Next Friday, October 19th, Vitor Cano, PhD candidate advised by Prof. Marcelo Antunes Nolasco, will present the seminar “Experience at the Columbia University in the CAPES Sandwich Doctorate Program”. The seminar takes place in room T1, building M1 at 13h.

Abstract: This presentation aims at sharing the experiences obtained during a 10-month period at the Columbia University, New York City, USA, under Prof. Kartik Chandran supervision in the Sandwich Doctorate Program (CAPES). The following topics will be covered: (a) PDSE objectives, application, rules and assessment steps; (b) Preparing to travel and arriving in NYC; (c) Columbia University, general information, engineering department, research structure and Prof. Chandran’s research group; (d) challenges and difficulties related to living abroad; (e) brief description of the study main results obtained; (f) general assessment of the experience.
