Resumo
Many frameworks are available to describe biological systems, from the simplicity of boolean models to the complexity of differential equations. Here we present an alternative approach, which looks for the best of both worlds: continuous time Boolean modeling. This approach was initially developed to model intracellular signalling, but with time was extended to account for cell populations, and lately spatial multiscale modeling by being integrated into agent-based frameworks such as PhysiCell. In this seminar we describe the foundations and the evolution of this framework, together with examples showing its applications at different scales.
