Muitas esp\u00e9cies desaparecem antes mesmo de serem estudadas, o que dificulta a\u00e7\u00f5es de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o. Esses fragmentos ficam presentes no solo, na \u00e1gua ou at\u00e9 no ar, podendo ser coletados e analisados por pesquisadores. A partir dessas amostras, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel identificar quais esp\u00e9cies est\u00e3o presentes em determinado local sem a necessidade de observa\u00e7\u00e3o direta [1][2].<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Essa t\u00e9cnica tem se mostrado extremamente \u00fatil para o monitoramento da biodiversidade, especialmente em \u00e1reas de dif\u00edcil acesso ou onde as esp\u00e9cies s\u00e3o raras e dif\u00edceis de detectar. M\u00e9todos tradicionais de monitoramento muitas vezes envolvem captura ou manipula\u00e7\u00e3o de animais, o que pode causar estresse ou interferir no comportamento das esp\u00e9cies. Com o eDNA, esse impacto \u00e9 minimizado, tornando o processo mais \u00e9tico e sustent\u00e1vel [1].<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outra aplica\u00e7\u00e3o importante est\u00e1 no controle de esp\u00e9cies invasoras. O eDNA permite detectar a presen\u00e7a dessas esp\u00e9cies em est\u00e1gios iniciais, antes que se espalhem de forma significativa. Isso possibilita a\u00e7\u00f5es mais r\u00e1pidas e eficientes para proteger os ecossistemas nativos [3][4].<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A biotecnologia \u00e9 fundamental para o funcionamento dessa t\u00e9cnica. M\u00e9todos como a rea\u00e7\u00e3o em cadeia da polimerase (PCR) permitem amplificar pequenas quantidades de DNA, tornando poss\u00edvel a identifica\u00e7\u00e3o das esp\u00e9cies mesmo quando o material gen\u00e9tico est\u00e1 em baixa concentra\u00e7\u00e3o. Com os avan\u00e7os da biologia molecular, o uso do eDNA tem se tornado cada vez mais acess\u00edvel e preciso [2].<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apesar das vantagens, ainda existem desafios. A interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o dos resultados pode ser complexa, j\u00e1 que o DNA pode permanecer no ambiente por diferentes per\u00edodos de tempo, dificultando a determina\u00e7\u00e3o exata de quando a esp\u00e9cie esteve presente. Al\u00e9m disso, fatores ambientais podem influenciar a degrada\u00e7\u00e3o do material gen\u00e9tico [4].<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dessa forma, o eDNA se destaca como uma ferramenta inovadora e promissora para a conserva\u00e7\u00e3o da biodiversidade.
