O Departamento de Parasitologia destaca-se pela produ\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica de qualidade, reconhecida internacionalmente. A partir do final da d\u00e9cada de 1980, sob a lideran\u00e7a de Erney Camargo, o Departamento retomou sua posi\u00e7\u00e3o de lideran\u00e7a nacional, com o recrutamento de bioqu\u00edmicos, bi\u00f3logos moleculares, imunologistas e epidemiologistas para seu corpo docente. Todos os atuais docentes mant\u00eam laborat\u00f3rios de pesquisa com amplo financiamento externo. Mais da metade recebe bolsa de produtividade cient\u00edfica do CNPq.<\/p>

O Departamento participa de quatro Institutos Nacionais de Ci\u00eancia e Tecnologia (INCTs) do CNPq (Entomologia Molecular, Vacinas, Biotecnologia Estrutural e Qu\u00edmica Medicinal em Doen\u00e7as Infecciosas e Gen\u00e9tica M\u00e9dica Populacional), al\u00e9m de grandes redes de pesquisa financiadas pelo CNPq, CAPES e FINEP, com foco em mal\u00e1ria, leishmanioses e dengue. No \u00e2mbito internacional, o Departamento coordena estudos sobre tripanossomat\u00eddeos e a mal\u00e1ria na \u00c1frica, financiados pelo programa Pr\u00f3-\u00c1frica do CNPq, al\u00e9m de participar de projetos financiados pela Comunidade Europeia, Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial da Sa\u00fade, Instituto Nacional de Alergia e Doen\u00e7as Infecciosas dos Estados Unidos e Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Bill e Melinda Gates. Sedia o componente brasileiro de um dos Centros de Excel\u00eancia em Pesquisa em Mal\u00e1ria financiados pelo Instituto Nacional de Alergia e Doen\u00e7as Infecciosas dos Estados Unidos.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
