Obteve a certifica\u00e7\u00e3o da CTNBio no segundo semestre de 2010. Esse laborat\u00f3rio tem como objetivo a produ\u00e7\u00e3o em larga escala de mosquitos geneticamente modificados (MGM) para o projeto piloto PAT \u2013 Projeto Aedes transg\u00eanico. Os machos transg\u00eanicos produzidos s\u00e3o liberados no campo com o intuito de promover supress\u00e3o de popula\u00e7\u00e3o e reduzir os casos de doen\u00e7a na \u00e1rea. Atualmente s\u00e3o produzidos aproximadamente 400 mil mosquitos machos, para a libera\u00e7\u00e3o e aproximadamente 2,5 milh\u00f5es de ovos por semana. Essa parceria conta ainda com os agentes de controle da prefeitura da cidade de Juazeiro (BA) para avaliar o resultado das libera\u00e7\u00f5es
