O Departamento de Parasitologia do ICB-USP mant\u00e9m desde 2004, em conjunto com a Universidade Federal do Acre (UFAC), atividades de pesquisa de campo no estado do Acre. Com esta finalidade, o ICB-USP e a UFAC celebraram conv\u00eanio formal de coopera\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica. Atualmente, o laborat\u00f3rio que d\u00e1 suporte a essas atividades situa-se no campus da Floresta da UFAC no munic\u00edpio de Cruzeiro do Sul, extremo ocidental do estado do Acre, pr\u00f3ximo \u00e0 fronteira com o Peru. Esse laborat\u00f3rio, coordenado pelo Prof. Rodrigo Medeiros de Souza (UFAC), proporciona est\u00e1gios de pesquisa a dezenas de pesquisadores e de estudantes de gradua\u00e7\u00e3o e de p\u00f3s-gradua\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o somente da USP, mas tamb\u00e9m de diversas outras institui\u00e7\u00f5es do Brasil e do exterior. Os principais temas de trabalho s\u00e3o a epidemiologia e controle da mal\u00e1ria em comunidades urbanas e rurais e a sa\u00fade materno-infantil no Vale do Juru\u00e1, incluindo uma ampla linha de pesquisa em imunopatologia da mal\u00e1ria gestacional. Al\u00e9m disso, o laborat\u00f3rio lidera a participa\u00e7\u00e3o brasileira no Amazonian International Center of Excellence in Malaria Research (https:\/\/www.niaid.nih.gov\/research\/amazonian-icemr<\/a>), um cons\u00f3rcio entre pesquisadores norte-americanos, brasileiros e peruanos que recebe aporte financeiro do National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health, Estados Unidos.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
