Gilson Schwartz graduated in Economics and Social Sciences from the Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo (1980, 1981); Master\u2019s degree and Doctor\u2019s degree in Economic Science from Unicamp (State University of Campinas), S\u00e3o Paulo, (1985 and 1993), and post-doctorate activities as an Invited Professor of the Research Nucleus for International Relations (NUPRI-USP, 1997-1999) and in the Institute of Advanced Studies of USP (1999-2005). Since 2005, Professor Schwartz teaches at the Department of Cinema, Radio, and TV of the School of Communications and Arts, USP, where he created and is responsible for the subject-matters \u201cInformation Economy and New Medias\u201d (graduate studies), \u201cIntroduction to Iconomics\u201d, and \u201cInternational Audiovisual Economy\u201d (both in undergraduate studies for USP\u2019s students of engineering, economics, administration, accounting, computational science, communications and arts. Between 1983 and 2006, he contributed as a writer, editorialist, and economy analyst to newspaper Folha de S\u00e3o Paulo, and in 2007 he participated in the creation of and contributed to Editora Globo (publisher) in the magazine \u00c9poca Neg\u00f3cios (a business magazine), where he launched the column \u201cIconomics\u201d. In 1999, after going through a public tender in the Institute of Advanced Studies of USP, he created the research group Cidade do Conhecimento (City of Knowledge) (www.cidade.usp.br). He was a fellow of the Institute of Developing Economies in the Ministry of Industry and International Trade of Japan, and in the Network Culture Project of the Annenberg School for Communications, University of Southern California. In Brazil (2009-12) he coordinated the Cons\u00f3rcio PRO-IDEAL (PRO-IDEAL Consortium), promoting a dialog between Information and Communication Technologies between Europe and Latin America. He is the director for Latin America of the international network Games for Change (www.gamesforchange.org.br), and has a blog, Iconomics, in the portal of the magazine Exame http:\/\/exame.abril.com.br\/rede-de-blogs\/iconomia\/).<\/p>\n
