Caio Morelli Vicentini
Ph.D. in Geophysics for the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences of the University of São Paulo (IAG-USP). My doctoral research aimed to understand genetic processes related to the Paraná-Etendeka LIP under an experimental perspective. Using the Ludwig Maximilians Universität München/Germany facilities I simulated a magma chamber under the assimilation of crustal material, scenario in where the Chapecó-type silicic magmatism could have been generated under chaotic dynamics. My professional interests include experimental science, geochemical analysis, and the use of Python for the modelling of geological problems. I am currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo (IFUSP), where I am conducting an investigation into the luminescent properties of selected lunar regolith simulants and minerals. The focal point of this project is the characterisation of the chemical and mineralogical properties of these materials, correlating such properties with the luminescence response in radioactive environments. The results have the potential to shed some light on the geological and radiation history of the Moon’s surfaces, as well as on the use of these materials as ionizing radiation dosimeters, thus contributing to future space missions.
