Ser\u00e3o observadas varia\u00e7\u00f5es anat\u00f4micas nas falanges proximais do p\u00e9, com base no m\u00e9todo desenvolvido por Trinkaus [Trinkaus, E. 2005. Anatomical evidence for the antiquity of human footwear use. Journal of Archaeological Science. 32. 1515 \u2013 1526]. Parte-se da an\u00e1lise de varia\u00e7\u00f5es dos ossos do p\u00e9, considerando-se o de cal\u00e7ados em esqueletos humanos encontrados em contexto arqueol\u00f3gico, em semelhan\u00e7a \u00e0 variabilidade anat\u00f4mica de popula\u00e7\u00f5es humanas recentes habitualmente utilizadoras de cal\u00e7ados. A inten\u00e7\u00e3o da pesquisa \u00e9 buscar dados sobre a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de cal\u00e7ados de apoio e prote\u00e7\u00e3o, inicialmente tratando o s\u00edtio Lapa do Santo e o S\u00edtio Moraes em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com cole\u00e7\u00f5es modernas do Museu de Anatomia Humana (MAH-USP).
