The spread of the coronavirus on a global scale created an unexpected panorama in 2020. Most people were confined to their homes. Rapidly, various audiovisual phenomena were created in the wake of digital technologies, which were already becoming everyday in the planet’s daily life. “Pandem\u00eddia” refers to this moment, when a lethal virus placed us in front of the most varied screens and manifestations of communication and presence. Some reflections on this event are here, in this publication. They are thoughts that seek to understand this strange intersection between the pandemic and the media, with the loneliness of confinement, with the real danger of contamination and, consequently, death. In addition to the health crisis that has arisen, there are personal, social and political crises, but also a creative explosion that stems from them.<\/p>\n

In a variety of approaches, some texts refer to the present and future of audiovisuals, starting from the extreme moment in which we are living. Others focus, always under the impact of the pandemic, on specific events, social networks, contemporary artistic production, the possible narratives of the Internet, the phenomenon of “lives”, etc. Photographic essays and image research alternate with cinematographic, sociological and philosophical thinking, and there is also room for free texts and fiction.<\/p>\n

“Pandem\u00eddia: v\u00edrus, contamina\u00e7\u00f5es e confinamentos” is organized by Almir Almas, Lu\u00eds Fernando Angerami Ramos, Deisy Fernanda Feitosa, Daniel Lima, Lyara Oliveira, Jo\u00e3o Knijnik, and Graphic Design by Daniel Lima; it was created by LabArteM\u00eddia – Laborat\u00f3rio de Arte, M\u00eddia e Tecnologias Digitais and is a publication of ECA\/USP and Invis\u00edveis Produ\u00e7\u00f5es, from 2020.<\/p>\n

LabArteM\u00eddia is a laboratory and research group, certified by USP and CNPq, linked to the Department of Cinema, Radio and Television and the Postgraduate Program in Audiovisual Media and Processes at the School of Communications and Arts of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
