Laboratório de Cronobiologia binacional

(Binational Chronobiology Laboratory)

Argentina/Brazil

The Laboratório Binacional de Cronobiologia investigates the temporal organization of physiology and behavior in tuco-tucos (Ctenomys famosus), subterranean rodents endemic to South America. The Laboratory is located in part at the Centro de Investigaciones de La Rioja CRILAR-CONICET and in USP Biosciences Institute, resulting from the collaboration between Dr. Veronica Valentinuzzi, from Argentina and Dr. Gisele Oda, from Brazil. Since 2008, Dr. Gisele and undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students of the University of São Paulo travel several times a year to CRILAR, where Dr. Veronica lives and works. Because it is located in the natural habitat of tuco-tucos, in the Monte desert, the group has developed a parallel laboratory, semi-natural enclosure and free-living study for these subterranean mammals, integrating Chronobiology, Energy Metabolism, Ecophysiology and Dynamic Systems Modeling.
