Bacharel em Arqueologia (2018) pela Universidade Federal do Oeste do Par\u00e1 (UFOPA), atua em pesquisas envolvendo s\u00edtios arqueol\u00f3gicos localizados na regi\u00e3o do alto Rio Tapaj\u00f3s desde o in\u00edcio da gradua\u00e7\u00e3o. Seus principais interesses de pesquisa s\u00e3o o processo de forma\u00e7\u00e3o das terras pretas de \u00edndio datadas do holoceno tardio, ecologia hist\u00f3rica e paleoecologia na Amaz\u00f4nia.<\/p>\n

Sua pesquisa, inserida no projeto “Pessoas, plantas e paisagens na Amaz\u00f4nia<\/a>“, visa compreender o processo de modifica\u00e7\u00e3o paisag\u00edstica (forma\u00e7\u00e3o de solos e altera\u00e7\u00e3o da vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o) no s\u00edtio arqueol\u00f3gico Terra Preta do Mangabal utilizando m\u00e9todos da geoarqueologia (micromorfologia de solos) e da paleoecologia (an\u00e1lise de fit\u00f3litos), para observar quais aditivos minerais e org\u00e2nicos comp\u00f5em o solo e como a altera\u00e7\u00e3o destes por parte da ocupa\u00e7\u00e3o humana influenciou a vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o presente sobre o s\u00edtio arqueol\u00f3gico.<\/p>\n

With a Bachelors in Archaeology (2018) from the Federal University of Western Par\u00e1 (UFOPA), Hugo develops research involving archaeological sites localized in the upper Tapaj\u00f3s river since the beginning of his undergraduate. His principle research interests include the process of Late Holocene terra preta formation, historical ecology, and paleoecology in Amazonia. <\/em>His Masters research aims to understand the process of landscape modification (soil formation and vegetation change) at the Terra Preta do Mangabal archaeological site, using methods from geoarchaeology (soil micromorphology) and paleoecology (phytoliths) to observe which mineral and organic components compose the soil, and how their alteration by human occupation influenced the vegetation growing on the archaeological site.<\/em><\/p>\n

O s\u00edtio arqueol\u00f3gico Terra Preta do Mangabal (abaixo, \u00e0 esquerda) localiza-se na margem esquerda do alto curso do rio Tapaj\u00f3s, no sudoeste do estado Par\u00e1. Com cerca de 20 hectares de \u00e1rea e com datas entre os s\u00e9culos VIII e X, tem sido estudado desde 2010 por pesquisadoras e pesquisadores vinculados \u00e0 Universidade Federal do Oeste do Par\u00e1 (UFOPA), Universidade de Londres (UCL) e Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) \/ The archaeological site Terra Preta do Mangabal (bottom left) is located on the left margin of the upper course of the Tapaj\u00f3s river, southwestern Par\u00e1 state. With almost 20 hectares in area and with dates that fall between the 8th<\/sup> and 10th<\/sup> centuries A.D., it has been studied since 2010 by researchers at the Federal University of Par\u00e1 (UFOPA), University College London (UCL) and University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP).<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n
