On February 27, 2026, PhD student Leonardo Antonio Cáceres Avilez successfully passed his qualifying examination, during which he presented the project entitled “Optimization-based Process Synthesis Applied to Hydrogen Production via Ammonia Decomposition,” under the supervision of Professor Rita Maria de Brito Alves.
The examination committee was composed of Professor Ofélia de Araújo (UFRJ), Professor Karen Vater (UFBA), and Professor Galo Le Roux (USP). We sincerely thank them for their time, availability, and valuable contributions to the work.
Leonardo is now beginning his research internship abroad, funded by FAPESP, where he will carry out part of his research at the University of Notre Dame under the supervision of Professor Alexander Dowling.
