O LBIA do Departamento de Parasitologia do ICB-USP foi implementado em 1988 pelos Profs. Drs. Sirlei Daffre e Osvaldo Marinotti, que introduziram t\u00e9cnicas bioqu\u00edmicas e moleculares para o estudo de diferentes mol\u00e9culas de aracn\u00eddeos (aranhas e carrapatos) e de insetos (mosquitos e moscas).<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Os carrapatos s\u00e3o ectoparasitas que se alimentam do sangue de animais vertebrados (os hospedeiros), sendo vetores vers\u00e1teis de uma ampla diversidade de pat\u00f3genos. Dentre os pat\u00f3genos transmitidos ao homem por carrapatos, Rickettsia rickettsii<\/i>, agente etiol\u00f3gico da febre maculosa brasileira, \u00e9 um dos mais letais.\u00a0R.\u00a0rickettsii<\/i> pode se perpetuar por gera\u00e7\u00f5es subsequentes nas popula\u00e7\u00f5es de carrapatos de \u00e1reas end\u00eamicas para a FMB, pois apresenta transmiss\u00e3o transovariana (transmiss\u00e3o da m\u00e3e para a prog\u00eanie), al\u00e9m da transmiss\u00e3o transestadial (de um est\u00e1dio para outro do ciclo de vida do carrapato). Ou seja, os carrapatos, al\u00e9m de vetores, s\u00e3o reservat\u00f3rios da bact\u00e9ria na natureza.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
