{"id":155,"date":"2017-02-09T12:37:32","date_gmt":"2017-02-09T14:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.usp.br\/lca\/?page_id=155"},"modified":"2019-04-09T17:29:48","modified_gmt":"2019-04-09T19:29:48","slug":"control-moment-gyroscope","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/lca\/en\/projetos\/control-moment-gyroscope\/","title":{"rendered":"Control Moment Gyroscope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Control Moment Gyroscopes (CMG) are used as actuators in some applications such as attitude control of satellites, stabilization of two-wheeled vehicles, to avoid a ship from swaying, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The LCA (Applied Control Laboratory in english) has an ECP (Educational Control Products) CMG unit, model 750, which has a versatile structure with up to 4 degrees of freedom (DOF), that generates from SISO (Single-Input Single-Output) systems with one DOF, for linear control techniques applications, till MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) systems with four DOF, for nonlinear control techniques applications.<\/p>\n<p>This electromechanical plant is composed of four rigid bodies (Bodies A, B, C and D, shown in the figure below), whose angular positions are measured by incremental encoders (Encoders A, B, C and D), and two DC motors (Motors # 1 and # 2). Motor # 1 rotates Body D, a bronze axisymmetric disc, and Motor # 2 rotates Body C, and Bodies B and A rotate only through the reactions generated in the structure.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.usp.br\/lca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/238\/2017\/02\/Gyro_en-Large.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-327 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.usp.br\/lca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/238\/2017\/02\/Gyro_en-Large-295x300.png\" alt=\"Gyro_en (Large)\" width=\"295\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/lca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/238\/2017\/02\/Gyro_en-Large-295x300.png 295w, https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/lca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/238\/2017\/02\/Gyro_en-Large-1006x1024.png 1006w, https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/lca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/238\/2017\/02\/Gyro_en-Large-45x45.png 45w, https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/lca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/238\/2017\/02\/Gyro_en-Large-400x407.png 400w, https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/lca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/238\/2017\/02\/Gyro_en-Large.png 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 295px) 100vw, 295px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Three articles were published by members of the LCA, from which on was in the <a href=\"http:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007%2Fs40313-016-0277-8\" target=\"_blank\">Journal of Control, Automation and Electrical Systems<\/a> and two in conferences, <a href=\"http:\/\/proceedings.asmedigitalcollection.asme.org\/proceeding.aspx?articleid=2483980\" target=\"_blank\">ASME<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swge.inf.br\/proceedings\/paper\/?P=CBA2016-0083\" target=\"_blank\">CBA<\/a>.
