O Laborat\u00f3rio de Estudos dos Mecanismos de Morte da C\u00e9lula \u03b2 busca elucidar os mecanismos moleculares envolvidos na indu\u00e7\u00e3o da morte e disfun\u00e7\u00e3o de c\u00e9lulas beta pancre\u00e1ticas que levam ao desenvolvimento do Diabetes <\/span>mellitus<\/span><\/i>. Essas c\u00e9lulas s\u00e3o respons\u00e1veis pela produ\u00e7\u00e3o da insulina, o horm\u00f4nio hipoglicemiante, dessa forma, sua disfun\u00e7\u00e3o ou morte acarreta na hiperglicemia cr\u00f4nica observada no Diabetes <\/span>mellitus<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>

Atualmente investigamos os mecanismos moleculares que culminam da disfun\u00e7\u00e3o e morte desta c\u00e9lula principalmente em modelos de Diabetes <\/span>mellitus<\/span><\/i> do tipo 1, com \u00eanfase no papel do fator de transcri\u00e7\u00e3o HNF-4\u0251 e das enzimas da fam\u00edlia das NADPH oxidases. Al\u00e9m disso, avaliamos os mecanismos envolvidos no efeito ben\u00e9fico do exerc\u00edcio f\u00edsico na prote\u00e7\u00e3o de c\u00e9lulas beta em modelo de Diabetes <\/span>mellitus<\/span><\/i> do tipo 1.<\/span><\/p>

Um melhor entendimento dessas vias possibilita o uso desse conhecimento no desenvolvimento de estrat\u00e9gias que permitam a preven\u00e7\u00e3o da destrui\u00e7\u00e3o das c\u00e9lulas beta durante a insulite e tamb\u00e9m ap\u00f3s o transplante de ilhotas de Langerhans em modelos cl\u00ednicos da doen\u00e7a e posteriormente em pacientes. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
