Adult neurogenesis
Research description
She graduated in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora and has a Master’s degree in General Physiology from the Institute of Biosciences, University of São Paulo, USP-SP. Ph.D. in Sciences (Human Physiology) from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of São Paulo (ICB – USP) with a period of sandwich internship at the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences (SILS) at the University of Amsterdam (UVA-Holland). Ph.D. in Sciences from the University of Amsterdam (UVA-Holland). She has experience in Neuroscience, working mainly on the following topics: adult neurogenesis, learning and memory, neurodevelopment, the stress in early life, anoxia, physical activity, melatonin, biological rhythms, and melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH). Currently, she investigates how the process of hippocampal and hypothalamic neurogenesis fluctuates during the lactation period and possible correlations with melatonin and MCH levels.
