About Technologies

To conclude the program, students must deposit a thesis and present a technical-technological product associated with social technology, health technology, educational or sociocultural technology, depending on the field of their studies. The concepts of technologies proposed by government documents are adopted here.

Social technology – “transformative method, process or product, developed and/or applied in the population, and appropriated by it, presenting a solution for social inclusion and improve life conditions, being simple, of low cost, and easy to apply and replicate” (Brasil, 2019).

Health technology – “medications, equipment or technical procedures, organizational, information, educational or support systems, care programs and protocols, through which care is provided to the population” (Brasil, 2005a apud Brasil, 2010).

Educational technology – technological resources with teaching purposes, consisting of the production of practices, organizational or support systems that are appropriate and innovative to benefit the teaching and learning process. This type of technology has been used at all levels of Education – Elementary, Middle, Secondary School, and Higher Education, including children and youths with disabilities (Brasil, 2008) and professional and interprofessional education in the health field.

Sociocultural technology – a set of practices of social intervention proposing creative and participatory solutions for cultural needs of local populations, combining artistic practices and educational actions to improve the community’s life conditions. These practices consist of innovative and replicable techniques and methodologies to meet the populations’ concrete cultural needs (Brasil, 2006).
