Renata F. V. Lopez holds a degree in Pharmacy-Biochemistry, a master’s in Drug and Medication Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, all completed at the Ribeirão Preto School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of São Paulo (FCFRP-USP). She conducted a Sandwich Doctorate at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, where she studied the transdermal penetration of drugs associated with iontophoresis, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, where she focused on nanoparticulate drug delivery systems, including ultrasound-assisted penetration of drugs through complex biological membranes, such as the skin. She is a Full Professor at FCFRP-USP and heads the Center for Innovation in Nanostructured Systems and Topical Administration (NanoTop). The main focus of her research group is to investigate the transdermal and ocular permeation of drugs and the influence of nanoparticulate delivery systems and iontophoresis on this permeation.
