Food Engineering

Considered as an advanced arm of Chemical Engineering, fundamentals and unit operations are applied to chemical processes that involve food. Researches in this area aim at help food industry to produce or develop more safe, suitable, economical and nutritive products through innovations in processes and equipment items. Some applications involve processes of pasteurization assisted by microwaves, new processes for processing fruits, process simulation and optimization.
