Nascida em Aracaju, Sergipe, em 17 de julho de 1942, e radicada no Rio de Janeiro, Nascimento destacou-se pela sua atua\u00e7\u00e3o em prol do reconhecimento e valoriza\u00e7\u00e3o da hist\u00f3ria negra no Brasil. Formada em Hist\u00f3ria pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro em 1971, ela se envolveu intensamente em movimentos sociais negros e fundou o Grupo de Trabalho Andr\u00e9 Rebou\u00e7as na Universidade Federal Fluminense.
