The Plant Genomics and Bioenergy Laboratory (PGEMBL) was founded in 2016 by both assistant professors doctorate Elisson Romanel and Tatiane da Franca Silva with the objective to prospect genes from lignocellulosic metabolism and plant biomass control considering the needs of the biorefinery sector and industrial biotechnology. During the period from 2014 to 2016, the laboratory underwent to structural changes and implementation of equipments and reagents of the Plant Molecular Genetics area throughout the CNPq and FAPESP agency funding. In 2017, PGEMBL received the Biosafety Quality Certificate (CQB), approved by the National Technical Biosafety Commission (CTNBio) to conduct research of risk class 1. In 2018, an agricultural greenhouse was added with automatic irrigation, also certified by CTNBio, suitable for the study of large grasses, such as sorghum, maize, sugarcane, and energy cane.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0PGEMBL<\/em>\u00a0includes an area of 58 m2<\/sup> for experimental practice in Molecular Genetics, an area of 8,4 m2<\/sup>\u00a0for the growth of plants in a long day, an area of 7,2 m2<\/sup>\u00a0for the growth of plants in a short day, and area of 8,1 m2\u00a0<\/sup>for manipulation of plant cell culture and modified microorganisms. At the present, in this internal area we cultivate\u00a0Arabidopsis thaliana<\/i>,\u00a0Brachypodium distachyon, <\/i>and\u00a0Setaria viridis<\/i>. The research lines of PGEMBL allow students to accumulate knowledge and practices into bioinformatics, evolution, phylogenetic, gene cloning, gene expression, plant transformation, plant development and physiology.<\/p>\n
