A dosimetria por ESR permite o uso de dos\u00edmetros especiais, alguns dos quais se destacam por sua maior compatibilidade com o tecido humano, como a alanina e o formiato de l\u00edtio. Outros materiais podem ser utilizados para dosimetria retrospectiva em casos de acidentes envolvendo radia\u00e7\u00e3o ionizante, como o esmalte dent\u00e1rio.
