Ello explica la confiscaci\u00f3n que sufrieron los libros\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cacau<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cacao<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) (1933) y\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Capit\u00e3es de areia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Capitanes de arena<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) (1937), y la prisi\u00f3n en noviembre del a\u00f1o 1937. El compromiso de\u00a0Jorge Amado con el Partido Comunista de Brasil (PCB) era cada vez mayor, lo que lo llev\u00f3 a desempe\u00f1arse como diputado federal por el partido, de 1945 a 1947. Cuando se declar\u00f3 la ilegalidad de esta agrupaci\u00f3n, Amado abandon\u00f3\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/brasil\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brasil<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0y recorri\u00f3 varios pa\u00edses de Europa, como Checoslovaquia (donde vivi\u00f3 desde 1950 a 1952), y de Am\u00e9rica Latina, adem\u00e1s de los Estados Unidos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A lo largo de ese per\u00edodo de exilio itinerante, entre 1937 y 1952, se dedic\u00f3 a los temas pol\u00edticos, como puede verse en\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ABC de Castro Alves\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El ABC de Castro Alves)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(1941),\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O cavaleiro da esperan\u00e7a<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El caballero de la esperanza<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) (1942), biograf\u00eda de\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/espanol-prestes-luiz-carlos\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Luiz Carlos Prestes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, escrita durante su estad\u00eda entre\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/espanol-uruguay\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uruguay<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0y la\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/espanol-argentina\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Argentin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seara vermelha<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seara roja<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)\u00a0(1946), y la trilog\u00eda\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Os subterr\u00e2neos da liberdade<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los subterr\u00e1neos de la libertad<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) (1954):\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Os \u00e1speros tempos<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los tiempos \u00e1speros<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">),\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agonia da noite<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La dif\u00edcil aurora<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)\u00a0y\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A luz no t\u00fanel<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La luz en el t\u00fanel<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A partir de 1955, cuando retorn\u00f3 a Brasil, se alej\u00f3 de la militancia pol\u00edtica, pero sin dejar el Partido Comunista. Fue precisamente con\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gabriela, cravo e canela: cr\u00f4nica de uma cidade do interior<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gabriela, clavo y canela: cr\u00f3nica de una ciudad del interior)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(1958) que el escritor comenz\u00f3 a explorar, desde su visi\u00f3n socialista, un aspecto nuevo: escribir para las grandes masas. En esa etapa, el foco de su\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/espanol-literatura\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">literatura<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0cambi\u00f3. \u201cDespolitiz\u00e1ndola, expurg\u00e1ndola de presupuestos ideol\u00f3gicos y tentaciones pedag\u00f3gicas, abri\u00e9ndola de par en par hacia otras manifestaciones de la vida, comenzando con el humor y terminando con los placeres del cuerpo y los juegos del intelecto\u201d, como dijo el peruano\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/espanol-vargas-llosa-mario\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mario\u00a0Vargas Llosa<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, autor con quien la obra de Amado dialoga.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Luego sigui\u00f3 una serie de obras protagonizadas por personajes populares \u2013santas, prostitutas, coroneles terratenientes, changarines\u2013 sumergidos en una trama a veces marcada con rasgos melodram\u00e1ticos, a veces con las manifestaciones del sincretismo religioso de un escenario \u00fanico: Brasil. Literatura infantil, cuentos,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/espanol-teatro\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">teatro<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, poes\u00eda, textos autobiogr\u00e1ficos y biogr\u00e1ficos fueron parte de la producci\u00f3n del escritor que trabajaba de periodista y traductor, y que en 1961 ingres\u00f3 en la Academia Brasile\u00f1a de Letras. Su obra ha obtenido \u00e9xitos de venta dentro y fuera de Brasil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entre los numerosos premios que recibi\u00f3 se cuentan el Stalin de la Paz (Uni\u00f3n Sovi\u00e9tica, 1951), el Pablo Neruda (Rusia, 1989), el Lu\u00eds de Cam\u00f5es (Brasil-Portugal, 1995), el Jabuti (Brasil, 1959, 1997) y el del Ministerio de Cultura (Brasil, 1997). Recibi\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n el t\u00edtulo de doctor\u00a0honoris causa\u00a0de diez universidades de diversos pa\u00edses; el \u00faltimo fue el de la Sorbona de Par\u00eds, en 1998. style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El gato manchado y la golondrina Sinh\u00e1: una historia de amor<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)
