Quintero Rivera<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/922\/2022\/01\/image2-23.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5819\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/922\/2022\/01\/image2-23.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"192\" height=\"200\" data-id=\"5819\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ntes de come\u00e7ar uma carreira plena de \u00eaxito como solista e produtor, William Anthony Col\u00f3n foi o c\u00e9rebro musical dos dois mais famosos duos da hist\u00f3ria da\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/sals\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">salsa<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Tendo se iniciado como trombonista aos catorze anos, em um grupo nova-iorquino-latino de jazz latino, organizou sua primeira orquestra de salsa aos dezessete anos, com o porto-riquenho\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/espanol-lavoe-hector\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hector Lavoe\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">como cantor. O car\u00e1ter de espont\u00e2nea inova\u00e7\u00e3o de uma forma\u00e7\u00e3o que buscava estilos que marcassem sua pr\u00f3pria identidade em um universo musical povoado de grandes instrumentistas, cantores e orquestras estabelecidas, tornou-os rapidamente populares entre a juventude latina de Nova York, para quem o espet\u00e1culo das\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">big bands\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">latinas representava uma realidade que escapava do duro cotidiano dos guetos. Diante da depurada sonoridade das orquestras de\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/espanol-puente-tito\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tito Puente\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/latinoamericana.wiki.br\/verbetes\/r\/rodriguez-tito\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tito Rodr\u00edguez<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, estes \u201crapazes desafiantes\u201d foram consolidando um som mais \u00e1spero e agressivo, mais afinado com a estrutura sentimental juvenil do Bronx; imagem que, al\u00e9m disso, tamb\u00e9m enfatizavam nas capas e nos t\u00edtulos de suas produ\u00e7\u00f5es, que parodiavam o estere\u00f3tipo de \u201cmalandro\u201d com o qual \u2013 desde\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">West Side story\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 os anglos visualizavam os\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spiks\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(modo depreciativo de referir-se aos imigrantes porto-riquenhos pelo seu sotaque marcado ao falar ingl\u00eas).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Irrever\u00eancia<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O primeiro disco de Col\u00f3n e Lavoe intitulou-se\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El Malo\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1967), ao qual se seguiram, nos oito anos seguintes,\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hustler, Guisando (Doing a job), Cosa nuetra\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(parodiando a\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cosa nostra\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">da m\u00e1fia),\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La gran fuga, El juicio, Lo mato\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The good, the bad and the ugly\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Depois do terceiro e do s\u00e9timo \u00e1lbuns, foram intercalados dois discos de Natal intitulados\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asalto Navide\u00f1o\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 e 2<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) jogando com o duplo sentido da palavra, pois al\u00e9m de roubo, a palavra\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">asalto<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, em\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/porto-rico\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Porto Rico<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, refere-se a uma antiga tradi\u00e7\u00e3o de serenata que visita de surpresa os amigos, despertando-os no meio da noite com uma oferenda musical.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lavoe e Col\u00f3n compuseram a maior parte de seus sucessos (com algumas can\u00e7\u00f5es famosas que comp\u00f4s para eles o carteiro porto-riquenho\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/latinoamericana.wiki.br\/verbetes\/t\/tite-curet-alonso-catalino\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Catalino \u201cTite\u201d Curet Alonso<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Foram talvez os grandes respons\u00e1veis pela consolida\u00e7\u00e3o da salsa como novidade na maneira de se fazer m\u00fasica com ingredientes tradicionais pan-americanos; ou seja, como fus\u00e3o variada e livre de muitos e diversos g\u00eaneros afro-americanos anteriores. A irrever\u00eancia agressiva se manifestava, entre outros aspectos, em uma pr\u00e1tica de \u201cfaltar com o respeito aos g\u00eaneros\u201d, transgredindo \u2013 com as livres fus\u00f5es \u2013 algumas de suas caracter\u00edsticas definidoras. Por esse motivo, receberam duras cr\u00edticas de alguns tradicionalistas da m\u00fasica \u201ctropical\u201d, a quem pareciam disparatadas suas irrever\u00eancias, quando na realidade consolidava-se nestas uma nova maneira \u2013 muito mais livre \u2013 de fazer m\u00fasica latina. A m\u00fasica deles foi irreverente e inovadora tamb\u00e9m por relegar ao segundo plano, na livre combina\u00e7\u00e3o\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">salsera<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, os g\u00eaneros cubanos, at\u00e9 ent\u00e3o hegem\u00f4nicos na sonoridade latina. Eles enfatizaram os g\u00eaneros tradicionais porto-riquenhos (como a bomba, a plena e o aguinaldo) e o jazz, salpicando essas fus\u00f5es com g\u00eaneros brasileiros, panamenhos, dominicanos, colombianos, anglo-caribenhos, cubanos e, de maneira inovadora, diretamente africanos tamb\u00e9m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Super-her\u00f3is latinos<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Em 1975, Lavoe se lan\u00e7ou como solista e Col\u00f3n se manteve como produtor de seus discos, j\u00e1 que seu temperamento impulsivo e sua depend\u00eancia das drogas impossibilitavam-no de se fazer completamente aut\u00f4nomo. O car\u00e1ter experimental de Col\u00f3n j\u00e1 o impulsionava na dire\u00e7\u00e3o de novos caminhos. Nesse mesmo ano recrutou o mais importante trombonista porto-riquenho da gera\u00e7\u00e3o anterior, Mon Rivera, que acabara de cumprir uma senten\u00e7a carcer\u00e1ria por drogas, para realizarem juntos a mais importante produ\u00e7\u00e3o\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">salsera\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sobre a base dos g\u00eaneros porto-riquenhos da bomba e da plena, nos quais Mon tinha se destacado. Em seu caracter\u00edstico estilo de irreverente cr\u00edtica social, a capa mostrava a irrup\u00e7\u00e3o da dupla porto-riquenha de Mon e Willie em uma Nova York povoada de super-her\u00f3is \u2013 Batman e Robin, Super-Homem, a Mulher Maravilha etc. O t\u00edtulo,\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There goes the neighborhood\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, tinha logo abaixo a vers\u00e3o espanhola,\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Se chav\u00f3 el vecindario\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Detonou-se a vizinhan\u00e7a). Era a frase exasperada que os anglos costumavam exclamar quando algum porto-riquenho se mudava para sua \u00e1rea de resid\u00eancia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Em 1977, Col\u00f3n produziu a m\u00fasica para um bal\u00e9 televisivo \u201cBaquin\u00e9 de los angelitos negros\u201d, um disco de sucesso com a cubana\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/espanol-cruz-celia\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Celia Cruz\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e, finalmente, seu primeiro disco com o cantor e compositor panamenho\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.usp.br\/portalatinoamericano\/espanol-blades-ruben\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rub\u00e9n Blades<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0como solista \u2013\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Metiendo mano!<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. O sucesso imediato dessa produ\u00e7\u00e3o preparou o caminho para o lan\u00e7amento, em 1978, de\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Siembra<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, o disco de maior \u00eaxito da hist\u00f3ria da salsa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mais tarde o duo se desfez e por algum tempo Col\u00f3n e Blades seguiram rumos distanciados. No entanto, apararam as arestas e nos anos 1990 produziram juntos\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tras la tormenta\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">que dedicaram a Lavoe. Trata-se do \u00fanico disco de salsa, que se tenha not\u00edcia, cujos protagonistas nunca se juntaram fisicamente na produ\u00e7\u00e3o: tudo foi combinado em est\u00fadio, com faixas que cada um enviou ao outro por correio. Depois participaram amistosa e solidariamente de v\u00e1rios concertos ao vivo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ambos seguiram carreiras de sucesso como solistas e realizaram excelentes produ\u00e7\u00f5es posteriores \u2013 muitas, inclusive, tendo ganhado Grammys e outros pr\u00eamios da ind\u00fastria de discos.
