Second Joint UT and USP PhD degree: continuation of a unique international collaboration<\/b><\/p>

A doctor\u2019s degree with the names of both the University of Twente and the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) after doing PhD research in both universities: this will continue to be possible now that the Rectors and responsible Deans of both universities signed a new agreement. Already five PhD students are working in the \u2018Joint Doctorate Program\u2019,<\/b><\/p>

The University of Twente<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and two engineering schools of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo:\u00a0<\/span>Escola Polit\u00e9cnica da USP (EPUSP)<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Escola de Engenharia de S\u00e3o Carlos da USP (EESC)<\/b>\u00a0offer high-quality research groups and share a similar academic culture and have decided to continue their unique and successful academic collaboration. The Rectors and responsible Deans of both universities signed a new joint PhD programme agreement. The joint PhD programme aims to promote academic collaboration by co-supervising PhD students. The PhD research results in a single PhD diploma, carried out under the joint responsibility of the University of Twente and the University S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/span><\/p>

The first joint PhD programme between the two universities started in 2019 and includes five PhD projects in the domain of transport engineering and water management. The PhD projects contribute to solutions for sustainable urban transport and interconnected water-energy-food ecosystems. The second joint degree agreement aims to strengthen and broaden the collaboration between the two universities in the next five years.<\/span><\/p>

A Double Degree is an academic partnership established through an international agreement between USP and a foreign higher education and research institution, based on mutual reciprocity. It involves joint supervision of the student, enabling the awarding of a degree that is valid and officially recognized by both institutions.<\/span><\/p>

The Double Degree Program aims to promote and strengthen scientific cooperation between research teams at USP and partner foreign institutions.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

To participate, you must be enrolled in one of the graduate programs of the Polytechnic School (Poli) or the S\u00e3o Carlos School of Engineering (EESC) at USP.<\/span><\/p>
