As altera\u00e7\u00f5es gen\u00e9ticas est\u00e3o intimamente relacionadas aos tumores do aparelho digestivo. Ademais, a identifica\u00e7\u00e3o de s\u00edndromes neopl\u00e1sicas heredit\u00e1rias e a compreens\u00e3o molecular da chamada predisposi\u00e7\u00e3o ao c\u00e2ncer, exigem conhecimento do m\u00e9dico, que se dedica a doen\u00e7as digestivas, a entender claramente a Oncologia Molecular.<\/p>\n<p>O conhecimento das principais altera\u00e7\u00f5es e classifica\u00e7\u00f5es moleculares das diversas afec\u00e7\u00f5es do aparelho digestivo, das rotas de carcinog\u00eanese, assim como o emprego de biomarcadores no diagn\u00f3stico e est\u00e1dio destas doen\u00e7as, s\u00e3o fundamentais para melhoria na estrat\u00e9gia diagn\u00f3stica e terap\u00eautica, com grande impacto no progn\u00f3stico.<\/p>\n<p>Com esta disciplina, pretende-se ampliar a integra\u00e7\u00e3o da gen\u00f4mica com as doen\u00e7as de tratamento cir\u00fargico do aparelho digestivo. Faz parte do estudo da gen\u00e9tica entender que as altera\u00e7\u00f5es de fun\u00e7\u00e3o g\u00eanica resultam n\u00e3o somente de muta\u00e7\u00f5es, inser\u00e7\u00f5es, dele\u00e7\u00f5es, rearranjos ou amplifica\u00e7\u00f5es do gene, mas tamb\u00e9m decorrentes de mecanismos epigen\u00e9ticos, como metila\u00e7\u00e3o e acetila\u00e7\u00e3o do DNA e histonas. Tais aberra\u00e7\u00f5es no gene podem ocorrer atrav\u00e9s de altera\u00e7\u00f5es na express\u00e3o de mRNAs ou em micro RNAs. Mudan\u00e7as na prote\u00edna final s\u00e3o relevantes para o comportamento maligno, desde altera\u00e7\u00f5es nas taxas de produ\u00e7\u00e3o ou catabolismo, at\u00e9 mudan\u00e7as qualitativas na sequ\u00eancia e estrutura resultantes das altera\u00e7\u00f5es nos genes que a codificam.
