Exchange Student

Foreign exchange students may attend courses at the Program for a period of one or two semesters. Students may thus obtain credits or do research valid for the Academic Record.

It is necessary to have previous knowledge of the Portuguese language, since practically all of the activities at USP are offered in this language.

The Brazilian academic year is from February to December and is divided in two semesters. The first semester is from February to June and the second from August to December. January and July are vacation periods at the University of São Paulo.

Scholarships and costs

There is no tuition at the University of São Paulo to foreign students. However, scholarships are not available for foreign exchange students.

Accommodation

University of São Paulo does not have accommodation for foreign students.

Regular Student

There are two ways to be admitted to a graduate program at the University of São Paulo as a regular student by:

• the application process.

• the Program for Partner Graduate Students (PEC-PG) (A Brazilian government program for Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Caribbean developing countries).
