class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"font_8\"><strong>Objetivos:<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"font_8\">MODELOS DE TERRENO SAM 3&#8243;\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"font_8\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0A id\u00e9ia de se criar um MDT para a Am\u00e9rica do Sul, na \u00e9poca em que o trabalho foi iniciado nos anos 90, veio do fato de que os modelos globais existentes utilizavam na maior parte da regi\u00e3o dados de cartas topogr\u00e1ficas na escala 1:1.000.000, n\u00e3o possuindo uma resolu\u00e7\u00e3o desej\u00e1vel para muitas aplica\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p><p class=\"font_8\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Com efeito, j\u00e1 se dispunha de dados digitalizados de cartas com escalas maiores. Por outro lado, desde 2003, ficaram dispon\u00edveis os dados do Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), que \u00e9 um modelo digital de terreno em formato de malha regular com espa\u00e7amento de 3\u201d, tanto em longitude como em latitude e que \u00e9 analisado no trabalho de tese de doutorado \u201cImplementa\u00e7\u00e3o de modelos digitais de terreno para aplica\u00e7\u00f5es na \u00e1rea de geod\u00e9sia e geof\u00edsica na Am\u00e9rica do Sul\u201d (MATOS, 2005).<\/p><p class=\"font_8\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0A partir da integra\u00e7\u00e3o das informa\u00e7\u00f5es dispon\u00edveis e de esfor\u00e7os complementares que foram concretizados criou-se tr\u00eas modelos para a Am\u00e9rica do Sul com a denomina\u00e7\u00e3o South American Model (SAM) cobrindo as latitudes \u00a0de 60o S a 25o N e longitudes de 100o W a 25o W. O sistema de refer\u00eancia planim\u00e9trico adotado foi o World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84). As unidades verticais representam a altitude em metros acima do N\u00edvel M\u00e9dio do Mar (NMM).
