The Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Innovation (RCGI) was present at key international events in New York between September 19th and 23th.
RCGI participated in the “SDGs in Brazil” and “SDGs Worldwide” meetings, organized by Pacto Global Rede Brasil at the United Nations (UN) headquarters, and was also present at the NY Forum Climate Week at Columbia University.
Representing RCGI, the scientific director, Professor Julio Meneghini, and the HR and Communication director, Professor Karen Mascarenhas, took part in a series of meetings aimed at discussing the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition.
On September 19th, RCGI attended “SDGs in Brazil,” the largest corporate sustainability event in the world, which gathers leaders from various sectors to debate topics related to the environment, human rights, labor, and finance. The event, held at the prestigious Delegates Dining Room at the UN headquarters, was attended by hundreds of business leaders, politicians, and opinion makers.
The following day, RCGI also participated in “SDGs Worldwide,” which addressed sustainability issues from a global perspective, bringing together 800 participants, including leaders from the public and private sectors, representatives of the Brazilian Mission to the UN, and international experts associated with the Global Compact.
In addition to the activities at the UN, Professor Julio Meneghini was one of the speakers at the NY Forum Climate Week on September 23th, an event organized by the Climate Group and held at Columbia Law School. Meneghini participated in the panel “Global Financial Cooperation: How to Mobilize Funds from International and Multilateral Organizations,” which discussed global financial cooperation to enable energy transition and sustainability initiatives.
RCGI’s participation in such high-level events reinforces its leadership role in the international debate on sustainability and energy transition, aligning itself with key global players in the search for solutions to current environmental challenges.
RCGI would like to thank Professor Patrícia Iglesias from the USP Environmental Management Superintendence for the kind invitation.
