On January 20, 2026, RCGI–USP had the pleasure of welcoming Shell’s senior technology leadership for a technical visit and strategic discussions focused on innovation and low-carbon technologies.
The visit provided an opportunity for in-depth technical exchange around pathways for the energy transition and highlighted RCGI–USP’s research infrastructure and pilot-scale facilities. The agenda included technical visits to the Hydrogen Refueling Station Pilot Plant (Ethanol to H₂) and the CO₂-to-Methanol Pilot Plant, followed by a working lunch and an institutional presentation showcasing ongoing initiatives from RCGI and OTIC.

The Shell delegation was led by Selda Gunsel (EVP Technology & CTO, Shell) and included representatives from global technology leadership and management across subsurface, wells, and low-carbon technologies, reinforcing Shell’s interest in applied research and innovation aligned with decarbonization goals.

The visit was hosted by Julio Meneghini, Scientific Director of RCGI–USP, and Gustavo Assi, Scientific Director of OTIC, alongside RCGI leadership and laboratory coordinators, enabling technical discussions grounded in ongoing research, pilot projects, and collaborative opportunities between academia and industry.
RCGI–USP sincerely thanks Shell for the visit and for the constructive dialogue, which underscores the importance of long-term collaboration between research institutions and industry to accelerate high-impact, low-carbon solutions.
