Liane Rossi, professor at the Institute of Chemistry at the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) and director of the CCU Program at the Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Innovation (RCGI \u2013 USP), presented the lecture \u201cBrazil’s CO2 Challenge: Pathways to a Low-Carbon Economy\u201d during a ceremony at the Bernadotte Library at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden.<\/p>\n

Professor Rossi has developed activities at Stockholm University as a Guest Professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry since she was awarded the King Carl XVI Gustaf Professorship in Environmental Science for the year 2023\/2024. She is the 28th holder of this prestigious award from the King Carl XVI Gustaf’s 50-year Fund for Science, Technology, and the Environment. Professor Rossi lecture took place during a ceremony where the King awarded scholarships from the same Royal fund to twelve young researchers. After the talk, the King invited Prof. Rossi to discuss her thoughts on energy transition and the research she is developing in Brazil and Sweden.<\/p>\n

The King Carl XVI Gustaf 50th Anniversary Fund for Science, Technology and Environment was founded in 1996 to celebrate the Swedish King’s 50th birthday. The purpose was to promote research, technological development and enterprise that would contribute to the sustainable use of natural resources and the maintenance of biodiversity. The fund awards grants to 15\u201320 young researchers annually, and also one international guest professor\u00a0per\u00a0year.<\/p>\n
