Laboratório de Farmacogenômica
I am a Pharmacist, Master and Doctor in Sciences. My academic journey started during my degree when I accomplished a Scientific Initiation evaluating the natural’s compound effect in the functionality of cells of the immune system. During my postgraduate (master’s and doctor’s degrees) I deepened in that and other studies about molecular pathways to elucidate forms to treat and to prevent the complications observed in diabetes and obesity. Since my doctor’s degree I’ve been studying adipose tissue and seeking to better understand the mechanisms that involve this tissue’s plasticity in face of different metabolic conditions. During 2016-2017 I did an internship in the Endocrinology and Metabolism division at RUSH University Medical Center (Chicago, USA) under the supervision of Professor Antonio Carlos Bianco. Today, as a Postdoctoral Student, I am part of the Pharmacogenomics Laboratory and have as the main theme of my project the evaluation of the involvement of miRNAs in the plasticity of different adipose tissue deposits induced by the glucocorticoid excess.
