Atualmente tenho interesse em orientar alunos de mestrado no PPG-SCX nos seguintes projetos:<\/p>\n<p>1. Din\u00e2mica de popula\u00e7\u00f5es usando aut\u00f4matos celulares probabil\u00edsticos. O objetivo deste projeto \u00e9 estender resultados obtidos para sistemas unidimensionais envolvendo o chamado efeito Allee em ecologia de popula\u00e7\u00f5es. O projeto envolve tanto c\u00e1lculos quanto simula\u00e7\u00f5es relativamente simples. O aluno interessado em sistemas din\u00e2micos (equa\u00e7\u00f5es diferenciais ordin\u00e1rias, pontos de equil\u00edbrio, bifurca\u00e7\u00f5es, caos etc.) encontrar\u00e1 muitas oportunidades de desenvolvimento neste projeto.<\/p>\n<p>2. Recordes e maiores subsequ\u00eancias crescentes de s\u00e9ries temporais correlacionadas. Neste projeto pretendemos estudar (i) a estat\u00edstica de recordes (maior valor observado at\u00e9 o momento) de passeios aleat\u00f3rios resultantes de misturas de distribui\u00e7\u00f5es de incrementos &#8220;curtos&#8221; e &#8220;longos&#8221; e suas aplica\u00e7\u00f5es na an\u00e1lise de dados reais em climatologia e finan\u00e7as e (ii) a estat\u00edstica das maiores subsequ\u00eancias crescentes de passeios aleat\u00f3rios com incrementos com caudas pesadas e suas aplica\u00e7\u00f5es \u00e0 caracteriza\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o-param\u00e9trica de s\u00e9ries temporais correlacionadas, em ambos os casos usando principalmente simula\u00e7\u00f5es num\u00e9ricas.<\/p>\n<p>3. Enquanto a amostragem aleat\u00f3ria minimiza a possibilidade de interfer\u00eancias humanas (intencionais ou n\u00e3o) no processo de aloca\u00e7\u00e3o e permite o uso de t\u00e9cnicas cl\u00e1ssicas de infer\u00eancia, a amostragem intencional tende a fornecer grupos de tratamentos mais homog\u00eaneos em rela\u00e7\u00e3o a certas vari\u00e1veis de interesse. Nesta linha de pesquisa, tenho trabalhado em uma abordagem denominada Amostragem Fortuita, que combina m\u00e9todos de amostragem intencional e amostragem aleat\u00f3ria. Essa abordagem tem obtido excelentes resultados comparativos com outras t\u00e9cnicas. Dentre as diversas possibilidades de pesquisa, vemos:<br \/>\na) Aplica\u00e7\u00e3o de diferentes medidas de diverg\u00eancia entre distribui\u00e7\u00f5es para garantir amostras bem representativas da popula\u00e7\u00e3o original;<br \/>\nb) Extens\u00e3o de m\u00e9todos de infer\u00eancia para esse paradigma de amostragem, com especial \u00eanfase na estima\u00e7\u00e3o de intervalos de confian\u00e7a.<\/p>\n<p>2) Aplica\u00e7\u00e3o de m\u00e9todos de aprendizado de m\u00e1quina e de redes complexas para predi\u00e7\u00e3o de tend\u00eancias em s\u00e9ries temporais financeiras: Devido aos comportamentos n\u00e3o lineares das s\u00e9ries temporais financeiras, a predi\u00e7\u00e3o de tend\u00eancias nessas s\u00e9ries \u00e9 um tema desafiador. A ideia \u00e9 que os metaclassificadores formados sob esse paradigma sejam melhores do que os classificadores individuais, na medida em que conseguiriam &#8220;selecionar&#8221; ou ponderar melhor as previs\u00f5es de cada classificador em cada subregi\u00e3o do espa\u00e7o de atributos.
