We kindly ask you to read the following message carefully, as it contains several important updates, notably changes to the deadlines for registration, abstract submission, and cocktail participation payments. Please also note that the meeting will accept in-person attendance only.
This is the Second Announcement for the 21st S-PLUS Collaboration Meeting. Please find below all consolidated details regarding the meeting, venue, registration, deadlines, and logistics.
1. The Meeting
The 21st S-PLUS Collaboration Meeting will take place from August 16–20, 2026, at the Hotel Pousada Villas de Paraty in Paraty, Brazil, this year exceptionally only with in-person participation.
This edition of the meeting holds special significance as it will celebrate the career and scientific contributions of Dr. Laerte Sodré Jr.
Due to venue capacity and to ensure a productive collaboration, the maximum number of participants for the meeting (present in Paraty) is strictly limited to 100 individuals.

3. Hotel Reservations
Lodging at the conference hotel is open and highly encouraged for all attendees—regardless of career stage (student, post-doc, or professor) or presentation status (whether presenting a talk, a poster, or simply attending without a presentation).
Staying at the venue helps foster a vibrant, collaborative community throughout the event and assists the organization in meeting its commitment to fill a minimum of 32 rooms.

Welcome Cocktail Reception
A special welcome cocktail reception will take place at Pousada Villas de Paraty on Sunday, August 16, at 6:00 p.m., with the participation of our honored guest, Laerte Sodré Jr.
Please note that participation in the cocktail reception will require an additional fee of R$100.

4. Financial Aid & Accommodation Solidarity
Financial Support: The organization cannot provide financial support for accommodation costs or food.
Lodging Arrangements: Participants are responsible for covering their expenses and arranging their own accommodation, whether at the conference hotel or elsewhere.
Cost-Sharing Solidarity: Funding availability this year is very limited. Participants are encouraged to coordinate shared accommodation arrangements by splitting hotel rooms or sharing Airbnb houses.
Attendees with grants who are able to fully support the accommodation costs of another participant in a shared room are encouraged to do so.
Some financial help will be attempted for participants staying in shared houses. Questions may be directed to: claudia.oliveira@iag.usp.br
5. Transport
Complimentary Bus from Rio de Janeiro to Paraty
- Departure: Sunday morning, August 16, from Observatório Nacional.
- Return: Thursday, August 20, in the early afternoon.
This transportation is free for all registered participants.
To reserve a seat, participants should provide their passenger name, institution, career level, and document details in the transportation sign-up spreadsheet: 21st S-PLUS Meeting – Free Transportation Sign-up (Rio–Paraty)
Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to arrange a bus from São Paulo.
A van for approximately 15 people will be arranged, primarily for participants arriving at GRU Airport.
Participants are encouraged to organize car sharing or use regular intercity bus services.

- Students: R$200
- Postdoctoral Researchers: R$350
- All Other Participants: R$550

Domestic participants must pay via Pix by June 15, 2026.

International participants arriving from outside Brazil may pay in person on August 16, the first day of the meeting.
Receipt Submission:
Please send your Pix payment receipt to splus@iag.usp.br and request an official payment confirmation if required for reimbursement purposes.

Formal certificates of participation will be provided after the meeting.
Fee Waivers:
Very limited funding is available to waive registration fees for students or postdoctoral researchers who have no alternative funding sources.
Requests should be sent to jrgodoy@usp.br, copying splus@iag.usp.br, together with a brief justification.
Students are strongly encouraged to seek support from their graduate studies offices.
