Thiago graduated in Pharmacy at the Federal University of Alfenas-Mg (Unifal-Mg). While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he joined the group of Prof. Viegas Jr. to work on organic synthesis/medicinal chemistry. Granted with a scholarship to study abroad in 2013, he stayed at the University of Toronto – UofT for one year as an international student via CBIE – Canadian Bureau for International Education/CAPES. Later, he obtained his Master’s Degree working on the synthesis of triazolic based-Eugenol derivatives with potential antibacterial activity under the supervision of Prof. Carvalho from Unifal-Mg. In 2017, he became part of Prof. Clososki group aiming the selective metalation and functionalization of fluorinated nitriles as building blocks. In 2019, he was awarded an international fellowship and spent six months working as a research visitor at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz (JGU), Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Till Opatz, who formally became his Ph.D. co-advisor.
