Chem. Eng., University of São Paulo, 2014
M. Sci., University of São Paulo, 2019
Graduated in Chemical Engineering from the University of São Paulo – USP (2014), Lorena campus. Where he performed a scientific initiation in the area of ceramic materials (2009), supervised by Prof. Dr. Simone P. Taguchi Borges, and after this period he did an internship at BASF S/A, in the area of food safety, applying analytical chemistry techniques.
After graduating, he completed her Master’s in Science at the Chemistry Department of the Ribeirão Preto School of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters – USP (2016 to 2019), working in the area of organic chemistry, developing research into the synthesis of bioactive substances, under the orientation of Prof. Dr. Giuliano Cesar Clososki. Today, he is continuing his PhD training in the same area and under the same supervision, now at the Department of Biomolecular Sciences of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto – USP, with a period of exchange in the research group of Prof. Timothy Noël, at the University of Amsterdam, developing new synthetic methods using photochemistry and continuous flow.
Project title (PhD): The application of green chemistry strategies in the N-alkylation of piperidines of synthetic and medicinal interest.
The project focuses on the use of green chemistry today is one of the great challenges in organic chemistry, especially for synthetic organic chemistry. Incorporating green chemistry concepts into processes and methodologies can promote better use of resources, less residue generation and more Sustainable processes.
The project comprises the study of piperidine heterocycle N-alkylation reactions and the use of phase transfer catalysts in these reactions, as well as the application of continuous flow, aiming to development more sustainable methodologies and processes for these processes. Piperidines were chosen because of their importance and their presence in many natural compounds, many of which have interesting and relevant biological activities
More about him:
- Franco has bought more books than he can actually read in his free time (and that includes the many books in his ebook reader device).
- His parents had a pizzeria when he was a kid. He kept the recipe and tries to do it from time to time.
