PhD Defense: Juliana Bertoldi

On June 24, 2025, Juliana Bertoldi successfully defended her doctoral thesis in the Graduate Program in Chemical Engineering at USP. The thesis was developed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Martin Schmal.

With the work entitled: “Uncovering alloy formation, oxygen dynamics, and carbon suppression in LaNi-based perovskite catalysts for Dry Reforming of Methane”, Juliana focused on the formation of metallic alloys during the reduction of perovskite-type catalysts, as well as the effect of adding a second metal on oxygen mobility and coke suppression during the dry reforming of methane.

The examination committee was composed of the following professors:

Prof. Abhaya Datye (University of New Mexico – USA)

Prof. Liane M. Rossi (Institute of Chemistry – USP)

Prof. Larissa Otubo (IPEN)

Prof. Reinaldo Giudici (Polytechnic School – USP)

Congratulations to Dr. Juliana Bertoldi for the excellent presentation and dedication throughout her PhD journey!
