On the morning of Friday, May 23, Egydio Terziotti Neto defended his master’s thesis entitled: Mathematical Modeling of Reactors for a Carbon Dioxide Conversion Process into Aviation Fuel.
The work was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Reinaldo Giudici and co-supervision of Prof. Rita Maria de Brito Alves.
Developed over the course of two years, the project aimed to propose mathematical models for combined reactors in a process for converting carbon dioxide into sustainable aviation fuel. The selected route involved electrocatalytic conversion coupled with Fischer–Tropsch synthesis.
Within this context, different approaches using phenomenological models were evaluated, along with the development of an artificial neural network for optimizing one of the reactors. In the Fischer–Tropsch synthesis stage, fixed-bed and slurry reactors were studied in detail, covering different classes of models and accounting for the specific phenomena inherent to each system.
The examination committee included Prof. Myriam Lorena Melgarejo Navarro Cerutti and Dr. Jeiveison Gobério Soares Santos Maia.
At the end of the examination, Egydio was approved and became the group’s newest Master of Science. Congratulations on this achievement!
