Post-graduate Program in Oral Rehabilitation – FORP-USP

The Postgraduate Course in Dentistry (Oral Rehabilitation) was the first created in the College of Dentistry of Ribeirão Preto (FORP-USP) in 1983, and for 30 years has been contributing to the training of masters and highly qualified doctors in the Area. Headquartered in the Department of Dental Materials and Prosthetics, from the beginning it was very comprehensive in regard to the list of disciplines and lines of research.



GENERAL OBJECTIVE

The Postgraduate Program in Dentistry – Oral Rehabilitation Area, assuming the mission of the Public University, has as general objective the training of masters and qualified doctors of the dental area and areas related to Dentistry for teaching, scientific research and leadership in institutions of education and health. For this, it offers a solid scientific base and development of critical sense, with direct reflexes in teaching, research, extension, university administration, generation of knowledge and technological development.


SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

The Post-Graduation Program in Dentistry, Oral Rehabilitation Area, of FORP-USP, has as its mission:

– to train qualified human resources with technical-scientific and didactic-pedagogical training for the teaching of higher education in the areas of Dentistry and related;

– to develop, on a multidisciplinary basis, research related to consolidated research lines, aiming at improving teaching, diagnosis and solution of local, regional and / or national issues of interest, and the development of innovative materials and new technologies with a health impact of the population;

– encourage the formation of research centers in different locations in Brazil and abroad, with cooperation in research and mobility of teachers and students, promoting the internationalization of the Program.

Interaction with other teaching and research centers promoting solidarity and cooperation with Programs grade 3 or 4 is also among the specific objectives of the Program.



EGRESS PROFILE

Master’s degree: the desired profile for egress at this level is characterized by the training of professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to act in the higher education, leading to the construction of the highest level of knowledge of Dentistry and related areas. It should be able, from the dental clinic, to identify relevant issues that lead to the development of research and innovations.

PhD: at this level, the egress should have all the characteristics desired for the Master’s degree, complemented by appropriate deepening of academic knowledge and enabled to carry out research, advanced and original, generating technological innovation. The graduate doctor may work in higher education, industry, research institutes, and should be able to develop teaching, research, extension and technological innovation activities, student orientation, administrative management of teaching units or health services, courses of particular class associations or centers of study, public health services and in the Brazilian Armed Forces.
