About the Program

Functional and Molecular Biology – ICB/USP

Excellence in Research and Scientific Training

We train highly qualified researchers and promote impactful knowledge for science and society.

Program History

Founded in 2024, the Graduate Program in Functional and Molecular Biology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB) of the University of São Paulo (USP) is the result of an innovative and unprecedented merger in Brazilian graduate education between two CAPES excellence programs (score 6): the Human Physiology and Pharmacology programs at ICB.

Despite its recent creation, the program already stands out for its excellence and innovation, establishing itself as a reference in research and in the training of high-level scientists. Born from the bold vision of its faculty advisors, the graduate program has remained at the forefront of biological and molecular studies, constantly adapting to scientific and technological advances.
