Human Physiology Graduate Program

The Physiology Graduate Programs are one of the most dynamic, flexible and exciting ways to study biology, physiology, and correlated scientific areas. Since 1973, the Institute of Biomedical Science at the University of Sao Paulo conducted a graduate program leading to a Master and Doctorate Science Degree in Physiological Sciences.

Of particular interest, the program, called Human Physiology Graduate Program, is tailored to college graduate students coming from different backgrounds, not only at biological & biomedical field but also, physics, mathematicians, engineering, biochemistry, psychology etc.

The Graduate Program in Human Physiology is ranked at the level 6 (from 1, lower, up to 7, top) from the grade scale awarded by the CAPES (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior), which is a government agency linked to the Brazilian Ministry of Education in charge for promoting high standards quality for post-graduate courses in Brazil. This grade confers to the Human Physiology program the degree of excellence in graduation at national territory, and international distinction.

Objective

The main goal of this Graduate Program is to empower the postgraduate students to become grounded researchers and lectures in the physiology field, which is done by offering multidisciplinary and integrative disciplines.

The program comprises high-quality researchers acting as mentors in distinct scientific fields, and the research projects are addressed from the molecular and cellular level to integrative functional and behavioral aspects of relevant issues within the human patho/physiology. The areas covered by the program consist of cellular and molecular physiology, biophysics, renal physiology, cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrinology, GI, and neurophysiology.
