Registration

Registration

In graduate school, students must complete semester enrollments that can be held at the Graduate Department (block G Room 13) or through the Janus system.
There are 3 types of enrollment:

  1. first registration,
  2. choice of subjects, and
  3. follow-up registration.

There is a specific period for registration of enrollment, which is published in the Semiannual Activities Calendar, on the IP-USP website.

First registration

Despite the online system, the first enrollment of the graduate student (even if the student comes from undergraduate or graduate studies at USP) must be carried out using a printed form, either in person or by proxy (simple model, without registration in a registry office), at the Post – Graduate Secretariat (Block G).

Choice of Subjects in the First Enrollment

In the first registration, the student must also indicate using a printed form which subjects will be taken in the first semester. Disciplines offered by the Graduate Programs of the Institute of Psychology or any of the other USP units can be chosen. However, it is important to note that the official date of entry into graduate school varies according to the processing data of the chosen subjects (which varies according to the institute offering the subject) and that the student should pay attention to the subjects offered and respective deadlines for requesting enrollment in other units. This information is important, as it is from the date of entry into the system that the total term of the postgraduate course will be calculated (informed in the student record registered in the Janus System) and, consequently, all other deadlines.
At the Psychology Institute, courses are offered every six months and the course schedule for the semester is published on this website.

Subsequent Enrollments (re-enrollment)

The other half-yearly registrations can also be made through the internet, through the Janus System. The student must be aware of the enrollment period in the system because after that period enrollments can only be made directly at the Postgraduate Office (according to the Semiannual Activities Calendar).

Course enrollment

In the semesters in which the student chooses to take courses in graduate courses, the semester enrollment will consist of enrollment in subjects that can be done through the FênixWeb system according to the enrollment period informed in the system itself.

The enrollment period for regular students, who are not enrolled, consists of 3 consecutive steps:

  1. Pre-registration of the student;
  2. Advisor’s endorsement; and
  3. Deferral of the minister.

It is recommended that the student consult his supervisor in advance about the choice of subjects.

Follow-up Registration

An important observation is the need to carry out the semiannual follow-up enrollment even if the student has already completed all credits or if he decides not to take any discipline during the semester. If the student fails to register for 2 consecutive semesters, he will be automatically disconnected from the system and, as a result, from the Postgraduate Course. Follow-up enrollment can be done through the Janus System or at the Graduate Office (according to the Semiannual Activities Calendar)
