As part of its strategy, two British diplomats will visit the institution’s headquarters, this Tuesday, December 12, at Poli-USP
Next Tuesday, December 12, the FAPESP Shell Research Centre for Gas Innovation (RCGI) will welcome the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Brazil, Vijay Rangarajan, and the British Counsel-General, Joanna Crellin, for a visit to its headquarters in the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Poli-USP), in the State Capital. The two diplomats were invited by the Professor Emeritus of USP’s School of Economy and Administration (FEA/USP), Jacques Marcovitch, to see the work of the RCGI and the Brasiliana Guita and José Mindlin Library.
They will first be received at a luncheon in the FEA/USP, with the participation of Julio Meneghini, Scientific Director of the RCGI; José Goldemberg, President of the Foundation for Research Support of the State of São Paulo (FAPESP); Jacques Marcovitch, Professor at FEA and visit organizer; Carlos Alberto de Moura Ribeiro Zeron, Director of the Brasiliana Guita and José Mindlin Library; Camila Villard Duran, Professor of the USP Law School; and Tercio Ambrizzi, Professor of USP’s Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics, and Atmospheric Sciences (IAG/USP).
The visit to the RCGI will take place in the early afternoon, when research and collaboration projects with British universities will be presented and discussed. They include agreements for collaboration and joint projects, which are underway or were recently carried out, such as the Imperial College London/USP Dual Doctoral Diploma Program and the collaborative projects between the Sustainable Gas Institute (SGI) and the RCGI. FAPESP’s Scientific Director, Carlos Henrique de Brito Cruz, will take part in the meeting.
“The objective of this visit is to strengthen ties with the best universities of the United Kingdom, in order to increase internationalization and the exchange of researchers. Besides the Imperial College London, with which we already enjoy excellent relations and that hosts the SGI, a “sister” institution of the RCGI, we are in contact with Oxford for the SPRINT Project,” Meneghini revealed. SPRINT is the acronym for São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration. This is an organizational strategy that consists of simultaneously announcing international collaboration opportunities with a number of FAPESP’s partners.
