Workshop organized by the RCGI is free and open to the public
This Wednesday, February 7, at 2:00 p.m., at the headquarters of the FAPESP Shell Research Centre for Gas innovation (RCGI), in São Paulo, researchers from the modeling team of England’s Sustainable Gas Institute (SGI) will present a Modular Energy System Simulation Environment (MUSE) workshop. The speakers – Ivan Garcia Kerdan, Sara Budinis, Sara Giarola, and Julia Sachs – will introduce the tool and show how it can be applied to the energy field. The seminar, which will be held in the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Poli-USP), is open to the public and directed at engineers and researchers interested in scenario modeling. MUSE simulates plausible ways for the transition from energy systems to a low carbon economy on a global scale. The model works with the behavior of real investors in different scenarios. The presentation will give an overall technical view of the methodology used in preselected MUSE sectorial models. The sectors covered are Power Generation, Industry, Refining and Agriculture, and Land Use.
“The tool simulates what will happen over the next one hundred years and provides a global perspective of opportunities and challenges for the energy industry. This perspective includes 28 regions, representing the entire world,” explains Professor Celma de Oliveira, an RCGI collaborator and Professor in the Production Engineering Department of the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Poli-USP).
