Event will be held in the auditorium of IEE/USP and will present all 45 RCGI projects
On August 21 and 22, the FAPESP Shell Research Centre for Gas Innovation (RCGI) will hold its Fifth Internal Workshop. This event is held once every six months, bringing together the teams and the Coordinators of the 45 projects in the institution’s research portfolio. One of the objectives is to report on the results obtained during these two and one-half hours of work, fomenting the exchange of ideas and interaction among the more than 200 researchers on staff at the RCGI. This time, the meeting will take place in the auditorium of the Institute for Energy and the Environment of the University of São Paulo (IEE/USP), in the State capital.
In this edition, the presentations will be divided in to ten overall subjects: energy generation; gas leakage; gas transformation/conversion; gas purification; gas for transportation; transportation of gas; carbon capture and storage; physical modeling and simulation; energy management and modeling; and regulatory and legislative aspects. All 45 projects of the RCGI will have oral presentations, each one being ten minutes long, and there will be two minutes for questions.
The presentations begin at 9:40, and the first block of time runs to approximately 10:50 a.m. After a coffee break, the presentation will resume and carry on until 12:50 p.m. There will be an hour and a half break for lunch and, upon returning, six more projects will be presented. A last break is set for 3:50 p.m., followed by the last three presentations of the day. At the beginning of each day, there will be a 30-minute lecture prior to the first project presentation.
The speakers will be Professor Julio Romano Meneghini (Scientific Director of RCGI) and the professor Karen Mascarenhas on the 21st and the researcher Walter Oscar Serrate on the 22nd.
The RCGI was founded to perform studies regarding natural gas, biogas, hydrogen, and the management, transportation and storage of CO2. Its research portfolio is divided into four programs: Physio-chemical Engineering; Energy and Economy Policies; and CO2 abatement.
According to the RCGI’s Scientific Director, Julio Meneghini, this biannual meeting is an excellent opportunity to integrate the institution’s team of scientists and to show those who are interested in subjects connected with energy and what is being studied at the Centre. “Multidisciplinary environments create the necessary synergy for problem-solving and a fruitful climate for research and innovation,” he said.
Information: The V Internal Workshop of the RCGI will take place on August 21 and 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the auditorium of the IEE/USP (Av. Prof. Luciano Gualberto, 1.289, Cidade Universitária – São Paulo).
