CEDIR

The program’s main objective is to implement the reuse and sustainable disposal of electronic waste, including telecommunication and computer goods which have become obsolete. It is a pioneer action in a public agency.
CEDIR was founded in December 2009 and has a capacity to deposit, categorize and allocate from 500 to 1000 equipment per month. As a result, it is guaranteed that the computer waste of USP has a sustainable disposal and may be reused in the production chain. The equipment and components which are in conditions of use will be evaluated and donated to social initiatives, offering access to information and education for the poor. At the end of its useful life, the equipment will be returned to USP, which will be responsible for its sustainable disposal.
