Agencies for the Foster Research and the Scientific and Technological Development of Brazil

1- The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), an agency of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC), has as main attributions to promote scientific and technological research and encourage the training of Brazilian researchers.

1- The Portal of Periodicals, of the Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), is a virtual library that collects and makes available to Brazilian educational and research institutions the best of international scientific production. It has a collection of more than 37 thousand titles with full text, 128 reference bases, 11 bases dedicated exclusively to patents, as well as books, encyclopedias and reference works, technical standards, statistics and audiovisual content.

2- SciELO – Scientific Electronic Library Online is an electronic library that covers a selected collection of Brazilian scientific journals. The purpose of this site is to implement an electronic library that can provide broad access to collections of periodicals as a whole, to the fascicles of each journal title, as well as to the full texts of the articles.

3- PubMed Central® (PMC) is a free archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM). In keeping with NLM’s legislative mandate to collect and preserve the biomedical literature, PMC serves as a digital counterpart to NLM’s extensive print journal collection. Launched in February 2000, PMC was developed and is managed by NLM’s National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
