DIASPORÁTICAS

DIASPORÁTICAS, a neologism resulting from the combination of the terms: diaspora + erratic, is an immersive audiovisual experience created using resources for capturing and displaying content in virtual reality. It will be made up of high-definition video recordings with 360º cameras and screened using virtual reality technology. In a neutral environment, four black women and one white woman form a scenic game and express their emotions about the traumatic experience of forced displacement from their countries of origin to Brazil. The sensory approach creates a situation of immersive dramatization of the five characters interacting with the camera. By representing situations of forced displacement, the female characters represent situations of forced displacement that are opposed to the proposal of voluntary displacement experienced by users of immersive audiovisual technologies. In the experience, the user will be displaced to an environment where they meet characters who are there because they have been forcibly displaced, both in their life experiences and in their existence as characters.

The work is part of the doctoral research of director and researcher Lyara Oliveira, from the Audiovisual Media and Processes Program at the School of Communication and Arts ECA – USP and developed at LabArteMídia — the Laboratory of Art, Media and Digital Technologies.
